Game Recap

Class 6A No. 9 Jeff (6-0, 4-0 NCC) were able to withstand Marion’s speed that created many big plays and won its homecoming game and remain atop the league. Marion (4-2, 2-2) missed a chance to tie the Bronchos for the league lead.
After falling behind 29-18 at halftime the Giants held the Bronchos to one touchdown in the second half. Quarterback Justin Johnson ran for one TD and passed 36 yards to Montreal Poge with 6:18 to play that made it a one possession game.
Marion got the ball back with 2:28 to play and worked it to Jeff’s 43 before Bronchos intercepted Johnson’s pass to sniff out Marion’s comeback hopes.
Johnson finished with 118 yards rushing and was 9-of-21 for 186 yards and one TD pass. JK Thomas rushed 7 times for 141 yards – giving the Giants a big early spark – and Poge caught three passes for 69 yards.
Next game for the Giants will be next Friday at home as Giants will play Muncie Central. It is homecoming. Game starts at 7 pm
