The Marion High School girls basketball Giants are now 6-1 on the season after their 47-38 win against Columbia City on Friday night.
The Giants outscored Columbia City 10-6 in the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter Jazmyn Turner scored 10 of her 21 points, adding to the Giants’ 19 points on the quarter. Columbia City had chances to take the lead or tie the game before the half, but Del’ Reann Horton came up with steals that led to baskets, part of a 12-2 run by the Giants before halftime. They went into halftime leading 29-17.
In the second half the Giants outscored Eagles 21-18.
Jaysmyn Turner had 21 points; Ra Shaya Kyle had 14; Del Reann Horton, 7; Ayanna Harvey, 2; Leilanu Jackson, 2; and Ella Vermilion, 1 point.
Next game for the Giants will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Arsenal Tech.
