Marion High School athletic director Mike Quinn has resigned, saying the time is right to make the change and return to retirement.
The resignation will not be officially accepted until the next School Board meeting, but transition plans are already in the works.
“I have taken pride in my work here in Marion, and I have enjoyed my time here,” Quinn said. “I want to thank the coaches, school and district administration and staff, along with parents and the community, for working cooperatively to provide great opportunities for the students. I know that will continue.”
Quinn came out of retirement to fill the role of AD here at Marion in the summer of 2016, having previously served in similar roles in Kentucky.
“We appreciate Mike Quinn’s heart for our student-athletes during his time here,” Superintendent Brad Lindsay said. “His character, his integrity, and his caring and friendly attitude toward all made him a valuable part of our team.”
James Bell, who has been teaching health and physical education at MHS, will move into the role of interim athletic director. MHS teacher Mosi Barnes will continue to serve as assistant athletic director.
