Boys Varsity/JV Basketball · Marion Giant Boys Basketball defeats Luers 69-67

Marion Giant Coach James Blackmon won two state championships as a coach at Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers , so he was very pleased that his young Giant team came away with a hard fought 69-67 win on a very familiar court on Wednesday night.

The Giants were led by Sophomore Sensation Jalen Blackmon with 34 pts and Qu’Ran Howard with a career night as the Senior had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks. The road victory was a total team effort and it came down to some clutch free throw shooting by the Giants led by Blackmon who tied a school record by hitting 16 of 16 at the line.

After Blackmon’s 34 and Howard’s 19, RaSheed Jones and Josh Balfour scored 5 each, Trey Miles had 4 and D’Angelo Jones added 2.

Marion is now 4-4 on the season and will host Ft. Wayne South Side on Saturday night at the Bill Green Athletic Arena. Tipoff is at 7:30 pm, JV is at 6:00 pm.

The Marion Giants JV team fell 49-48 to the Knights.
