At times it wasn’t easy but the Marion Lady Giants recorded their 13th win of the season with a 57-44 victory over Grant County Rival Mississinewa on Tuesday night. Marion jumped out to a 16-11 first quarter lead and stretched it to a 30-22 halftime advantage. In the third quarter after a slow start the Indians pulled to within five at 38-33 heading into the fourth.
The Lady Giants slowed the game down in the fourth and gradually built a thirteen point lead to make the final score 57-44.
Senior Jazmyn Turner led Marion with 28 points including 3 three-pointers while Junior Rashaya Kyle scored 16. Ayana Harvey added nine points and Ellie Vermilion and Markeisha Jackson both had two points each for the victorious Lady Giants.
Marion is now 13-4 on the season and will travel to Muncie Central to take on the Lady Bearcats on Thursday night at 6:00 pm. The game will be played at the auxiliary gym at Muncie Central High School. Fans are encouraged to enter at gate 11.
