This Friday, May 31, Marion High School sophomore Zaimar Burnett will be competing at the IHSAA track & field state finals held at IU in Bloomington. The Giant Nation is cheering him on!
Marion Giants athletics has had and incredible year, but Zaimar is the only athlete competing at the state finals. Track & field is a non-classed sport in which Zaimar is seeded 15th in the 200 meter dash — meaning he is currently the 15th fasted kid in the 200 in the state, not his class!
Zaimar’s trials in the 200 will start approximately 5:40 p.m. on Friday. His goal is to get to the finals, where he will run again at 8:05.
(They plan to leave from Door 14 at the Bill Green Arena at MHS at noon Friday, and anyone is welcome to come out and wish him good luck then!)
If you can be in Bloomington to cheer him on Friday evening, great! Admission is $10 per person, and competition gets under way at 3 p.m.
If not, check out IHSAAtv.org for live coverage.
We’re proud of you, Zaimar!
