Giants News · Which region’s high schools had the strongest NFL Draft? – Presented by VNN


The NFL Draft took place last week in Philadelphia. Held on the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, it was the first draft held entirely outdoors, and was the most attended in history with more than 250,000 people attending. Over three days, all 32 NFL teams chose players who they hope could be the future of their franchise.

In the next few pages, check out all the players drafted by their hometown high school, and vote for the region you think has grown the strongest draft class!

Voting closes on Sunday, May 14th at 3pm EST / 12pm PST.

Game Recap

The Marion Giants defeated Indianapolis Arsenal Technical 15-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Austin Castillo struck out Brown to finish off the game.

The Giants secured the victory thanks to 14 runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Brandon McCoin, a triple by Dre Aguilar , a groundout by Tyras Brown, a single by Riley Russell , a single by Kurtis Alcala, a single by Justin Clariett, a walk by McCoin, a triple by Brown, a double by Dylan Meyer, and a single by Logan Wagner.

A double by Lopez in the second inning was a positive for Indianapolis Arsenal Technical.

Marion collected 18 hits. Meyer, Aguilar , Wagner, Alcala, Russell , and Clariett each collected multiple hits for the Giants. Aguilar and Meyer all had three hits to lead Marion.

The Giants return to action on Wednesday has they had to Tech to finish up the NCC regular season.

The #16 ranked Giants traveled to Chippendale Golf Club on Thursday night in not the best of conditions and came out with another 1st place spot. The Giants are now 29-0 on the season and just recently moved from #20 rank to #16.

When people in New Castle hear the name Daniel Cox they think of number 10 breaking the High School 3 point record, the kid who busted his head went to the locker room got stitched up and finished the game, or most recently the Head Basketball Coach of the current New Castle Trojan Basketball Team.  What many people do not know about Coach Cox is in 2001 he set a New Castle Middle School Track record

Both doubles teams got stronger as the match went along, and Claire was so mentally tough in a match that lasted over 2 hours for 2 sets. Kayla battled hard against one of the best players in the state.
