Wagner to take the lead for Giants baseball

The MCS School Board on Wednesday night approved the selection of a former Giant as Marion High School’s next head baseball coach. Gabe Wagner, a 1996 Marion graduate, will take over for Clint Davis, who left to become athletic director at Northfield High School. Last season, the Giants had the program’s most wins since 2001.

Giant Challenge featured on WIWU-TV

The inaugural Giant Challenge Alumni vs. Athletes event was a Giant success.  More than 500 former and current athletes participated in the two-day, 10 event spectacular.  Professional athletes such as Scott Wood, Ronnie Russell, Jackie Gallagher-Smith and Jeff Gallagher participated. North Central Conference Honors Announced

The North Central Conference has announced the All-Conference teams for the spring sports.  Marion had a strong spring season as the softball and boys golf teams finished 2nd in the NCC.  Girls Tennis repeated as NCC champions. Marion Wins Most Games Since 2001

Marion baseball won their 12th game of the season last night as they defeated Eastern 10-6 on Senior Day.  The win gave the Giants the most wins of any Marion team since 2001 when they also won 12 games. Clint Davis, who is in his 2nd year as the head coach after winning a state

Varsity Baseball Game Canceled

Tindley H.S. is unable to make it to Marion today to play the scheduled varsity baseball game.  Efforts to find a last minute replacement team were unsuccessful so the game was canceled. Baseball Sectional Pairings Announced

Marion will be traveling to Highland Park in Kokomo for a 2015 Class 4A Baseball Sectional Tournament. The Giants will open up against the Berries of Logansport.  Game time is set for 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 28.
